Mark and I went for a quick trip to ID and drove home the long way...50+ miles of dirt road through City of Rocks National Preserve.

Wild Horses
I finally got to see some mustangs roaming free. In Grand Junction, CO, the BLM has a management area called Little Book Cliff Wild Horse Range. It is open for viewing, just needed to get there. What a great excursion for the day.
I found two bands of 4 horses. For the most part I stood still, in fact they started coming close to me at one point, so I stepped off the trail into the river to watch them run by.
To avoid being too heavy on photos, here's a link to a few more: Wild Horses, 16 Mar 14

Bear River - Swan Day + More
So today was Swan Day at Bear River Wild Bird Refuge. They offered a behind the gates tour...thank you, thank you, thank you. We had a 3+ hour tour out to part of the refuge not usually open to the public. Tundra Swans, Snow Geese and Pelican. Plus ducks, gulls, herons, and eagles. What a great day!
I then went to drive the auto tour and got treated to a display by a male sandhill crane. I think he thought I was a rival...Boy can they jump!
