Naturally Delicate

Photos chosen for my final project for Language of Photography course.

“Naturally Delicate” is a series of fine art photographs that convey the simple and delicate beauty in the world in a manner reminiscent of the Pictorialists of the early 20th Century.  This landscape collection has a focus on nature, in particular flora, both on the ground and in the air.

Photos in the Style of Brett Weston

For my history class, we had to chose a photographer we admired and not only write a paper analyzing his photos, but also take photos in the same style.  I chose Brett Weston.  He's known for high contrast black and white photos, that are crisp and simple.   So for those who don't know Weston's work here's a few samples:

Forest. Brett Weston, 1971
Sculpted Leaf. Brett Weston, 1979

Now for my photos:

Lake Michigan

It's been a while since I've posted.  I've been busy with school, but just haven't posted anything.  Wanted to share these shots from Lake Michigan from Sleeping Bear Dunes.

Buddy Guy Concert

We went to see Buddy Guy last night in Cincinnati.  Watching an 81 year old Rock and Roll Hall of Fame blues guitarist was really cool.  I also had fun playing with the camera that Tad and Rita gave us.  It was cool that not only did it do manual, it was also able to shoot in raw (native format, that saves more info than jpeg).  I also chose to post-process in b&w given the heritage of blues.  Hard to believe that Buddy Guy is 81 years old and still moving around the stage like a youngster!

Gathering Steam

I keep shooting photos that I think will form a cohesive final project.  Plus spring is in the air (well, maybe...) and I love the buds and flowers this time of the year.
